Shane called out to the guy. "She'll get to you when she gets to you. You don't need to shout at her like that." He hated seeing guys treat girls like dirt. He hated it even more when that girl was Ashley. "Why don't you just calm down there and learn some manners." Apparently that wasn't what the guy wanted to hear. "What's it to you?" the guy asked standing up from his stool. The last thing Shane wanted was trouble. If he got a fight int he pub, how was he going to explain that to Brendan. Then again, Brendan might excuse it since he was sticking up for Ashley, Brendan's sister. "Look, man, I don't want any trouble, okay? I just think you need to learn to treat the lady with the respect she deserves. "And, what if I don't?'Shane arched an eyebrow. Seriously? "Then, I guess I'll have to kick you out of this pub. You might be able to go out to whatever place you go and do that, but we don't do that here. If I hear you heckle the lady again...""You'll do what?""I'll beat your little white-trash ass." That might have been one step too far because the guy took a swing at Shane. It was a cheap shot and it hit Shane right square in the jaw. Luckily, Shane had taken harder hits than that. He came back with a punch of his own. Then, he pulled the guy in and brought the guy's chest down on his knee. His buddies were standing up, ready to defend his friend if needed, but that wasn't going to be necessary tonight. "Leave," he told the friends. "And, take him with you!" Shane tossed the guy towards his friends and walked away. It was only now did he feel the pain in his jaw. [/ul][/blockquote]

she cried out when she saw the fist make contact to Shane's jaw. She took a step forward, but wasn't sure how close she should be. Ashley knew she should probably call the cops, but she was too caught up in the moment to call. When Shane punched the other guy, she covered her hand with her mouth. This was definitely how she thought things were going to go. The jerk's friends stood up. However, Shane tossed the jerk towards his friends and told them to leave. They were smart enough to listen. Ashley quickly grabbed a clean dish towel and took a hand full of ice in it and wrapped it up. "Shane," she called out to him as she walked over with the ice. "Are you okay?" She took a hold of his face and turned it so that she could see his jaw. There was definitely a marked there and it was starting to get red. She put the ice pack to his jaw. "Thanks," she said smiling up at him. "C'mon, have a seat." She brought him over and helped him down a seat. tag; shane count; 392 [/ul][/blockquote]

he said, pushing her hand away from his face. He felt the cold ice pack touch his face and it definitely felt much better. "Don't mention it," he said as he took a seat. He would have done anything for Ashley. Though they hadn't technically defined their relationship, he didn't care. He cared about her. Probably more than she knew. "You don't deserve to be treated like that," he said to her as he took the ice pack from her. As nice as it was for Ashley to be nursing him, Shane knew he had to be careful. They were out in public with a room full of people. And, it wasn't just any public place. It was the pub. Someone's surely going to tell Brendan what happened. They're sure not going to leave out the part of where Ashley got an ice pack for Shane. He had to be sure that whatever they did, it had to look platonic. They were family friends, after all. They couldn't do or say anything that might make anyone think otherwise. "I'm fine. Go back to the customers. I'm just going to take a few minutes and then I'll go in the back and start cooking."[/ul][/blockquote]

she said as she pushed away his hand and placed the ice pack back on his face. Shane took the ice back from her. So, the only thing she could do was just to stand back and watch. His face didn't look that bad, but it must have still hurt. She definitely heard the smack the guy make. Ashley looked around the pub. It wasn't even that busy. "Don't worry about it," she said waving her hand about. "Jamie could cover the tables. It's not that busy. You can't go back cooking if you're bleeding. C'mon, I think there's a first aid kit in Brendan's office. We can't have you bleeding over the food, right?" Ashley took Shane's hand and dragged him into the office. She didn't care what people thought. Everyone saw Shane get punched and they all saw the blood on his face. They're family friends. It was nothing more than just two friends helping each other out. Ashley walked into the Brendan's office with Shane. Then, she closed the door. "Have a seat. I think the kit is in here somewhere..." Ashley walked over to the bookshelf in Brendan's office. The bookshelf didn't have any substantial books to read. But, it did its purpose. She found the kit underneath piles of paper that was supposed to be keeping records of the money the pub made. "You know, I never thought you would ever be my hero." Ashley smirked as she took out the bandages and the Neosporin. As she moved in closer to Shane, her leg accidentally rubbed against his. She carefully cleaned the wound near his chin before rubbing the Neosporin in. Then, she covered it with a badage. "See, good as new. You don't look as tough with the bandage on your face, but you were never really that tough." [/ul][/blockquote]

he said as he followed Ashley anyway. He didn't bother looking around at the patrons. They weren't really looking at him. They didn't really care that Ashley and Shane walked away into Brendan's office. Shane took a seat, the one across from where Brendan sat and waited for Ashley to find the first aid kit. His eyes were glued to her backside as she searched the bookshelf. When she turned around, he looked away so that she didn't catch him staring at her. There was something about Ashley that he couldn't really described. He had a little crush on her, but there was part of him that knew it was a little more than a little crush. Yet, he wasn't brave enough to tell her that. "I always got your back," he said with a smirk. Then, he winced as Ashley put on the Neosporin and put on the bandage. Though he couldn't see his face, Shane knew he probably looked like an idiot. "Thanks," he said sarcastically as he stood up. Now that he was vertigo, he looked down at her silently. They were both alone in Brendan's office. Shane wanted to kiss Ashley and fuck her on Brendan's desk, but he knew he couldn't do that. That would be wrong, right? Shane cupped the back of her hand with his hand and leaned in, but he never actually kissed her. He was trying to show some kind of restraint. [/ul][/blockquote]

she said laughing lightly. "For being my hero." Ashley leaned in and kissed him again. "You know, if you took on the asshole and all of his friends, that might have earned you a bigger reward." She cocked an eyebrow and tried to be suggestive. Her fingers trailed against Shane's injuries. "Are you busy after work?" Though she was kind of seeing Xander, she wasn't exclusive with him. Besides, Shane and Xander were two completely different people. They all have their own qualities that appealed to Ashley. The fact that Shane stood up for her gave him a quality that attracted her to him. [/ul][/blockquote]

he asked with a smirk as he kissed her again. It was a good reward, but he was looking forward to that bigger reward. ”I’m free now.” Shane pulled her in closer to him and kissed her deeply. She felt so good in his arms, but he knew nothing could ever happen. Brendan would never allow it, and he didn’t have the balls to stand up to his best friend. They had been through a lot. He couldn’t possibly expect Brendan to be cool with him dating his sister, which was why they continued to keep this a secret. They continued to make out as Brendan took a seat and pulled Ashley down in his lap. Shane slipped his hand under her shirt and rubbed her bare back. He kissed her neck and then nibbled her ear. He was about to pull her shirt off when his phone rang. The ringtone on his phone was Coldplay, but Shane ignored it. It wasn’t until the song reached the chorus that Shane finally stopped. He groaned as he pulled back. ”Sorry, I gotta see who it is.” Shane reached in his pocket and pulled out his phone. Brendan’s number and picture flashed up on his phone. ”Shit, it’s your brother.” Shane slowly stood up so that Ashley could stand on her feet. Shane had to take a moment to clear his head before talking to Brendan. ”Hey, Brendan, what’s…What?...Right now?” A goofy smile appeared on his face and he turned to look at Ashley. ”Yeah, I’m at the pub. Ashley’s here, too…Okay, yeah, we’re coming right now…Wait, is it a boy or a girl?...A girl? Nice, Brendan…Okay, we’re on our way!” Shane ended the call and put the phone back in his pocket. ”Maddie just had a baby girl,” he said to Ashley. ”You’re an aunt! Brendan said we can go to the hospital to visit if we want. C’mon, I’ll drive.” Shane took out his keys and opened the door for Ashley and followed her out. [/ul][/blockquote]

she said excitedly as she hugged Shane. "Yeah, let's go. Wait, aren't we supposed to bring something...I'll just get it at the hospital." Ashley was glad that Shane volunteered to drive. She headed out of the office. "My brother just had a baby girl," she announced to the entire pub before heading out towards Shane's car. [/ul][/blockquote]
